Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Dr. Biju has announced an exciting new film project titled “Papa Buka,” marking the first major co-production between Papua New Guinea and India. This pioneering cinematic venture is set to bring together a rich tapestry of talent and culture from both nations.
Renowned director Pa. Ranjith, under Neelam Productions, is set to helm the project along with co-producers Prakash Bare’s SILICON MEDIA and NAFA Productions (Native Arts and Fashion Academy) in Papua New Guinea. The production team will also feature producers Cathy Angeline Mereun Sike and Prakash Bare, with Parul Agrawal and Adhya Prasad managing execution.
The film boasts a stellar cast, including celebrated Hindi/Bengali actress Ritabhari Chakraborty and renowned South Indian actor Prakash Bare, alongside prominent talents from Papua New Guinea. Adding to the film’s allure, the score will be composed by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej, with cinematography by Yedhu Radhakrishnan.
The official announcement of “Papa Buka” was made by the Honorable Shri Inbasekar Sundaramurti, High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, and Mrs. Noelene Taula Wunum of NAFA. The event saw key project members in attendance, including Executive Producer Parul Agrawal, Production Controller Adhya Prasad, and Indian film personnel Davis Manuel (Film Editor) and Dileep Daz (Chief Production Designer).
Principal photography is scheduled to commence in mid-July 2024 in Papua New Guinea, setting the stage for a historic cinematic endeavor that promises to bridge cultures and captivate audiences worldwide.
